Through many of the discussions that led up to the Preserve and Protect Algonquin initiative, the opinion was often expressed that efforts to preserve and protect Algonquin Park had to be made on two fronts. First, was the push for increased enforcement of the regulations. Second, was the increased education of park users through the promotion of ethical behavior and practices.

Doug Vance has created a set of three "Preserve and Protect Algonquin" posters. They are available for download in PDF format, suitable for printing.

Norm Hooper emailed in and described a pamphlet published by The Friends Of The French River Heritage Park. He included scans of the pamphlet for reference. While circumstances are quite different between the two parks, it served as a model for getting our own educational pamphlet designed.

When Park Superintendent John Winters recently emailed back with some statistics, he commented on spreading a positive educational message. With this kind of encouragement, it's hoped that the pamphlet and posters will serve as examples for either Parks Ontario or The Friends of Algonquin to follow for this coming (2003) camping season.
