Daisy Lake Trip - Summer 2010
It’s not the waterslides but the kids enjoyed it.
Small pool above the cascade.
After two hours of swimming, it was time to head back to camp and prepare dinner. Ingredients are laid out for grilled pizzas.
Aidan with the first of his 3 Pizzas. They are then folded 'pizza-pocket-style' and grilled over the fire.
My version is a tad on the spicy side.
One of the kids favourite meals to prepare and cook. Jurnee grills them to perfection.
Sunset from the campsite.
The next day we woke up to heavy overcast skies. The rain started coming down just before noon. We paddled over to the Casey Lake portage for a short walk.
Here's the view looking north across Daisy Lake, from the landing of the portage to Casey Lake.
We spent most of the time at our campsite playing magnetic hangman, reading, carving, etc under the tarp. At supper time the rain stopped and the sun broke through – good sign for the next day.
Here Jurnee is making some ‘voyageur-style’ bannock for a snack after a pasta dinner.
The kids spent about thirty minutes catching and releasing fallfish, pumpkinseed, perch, shiners and chubs from off the rocks. They were using either a fly rod or an UL spinning outfit with 1/32 oz home-made jigs. All the fish were released.
