7. Portage into Quieter Waters These two canoeists have just portaged 295 meters from the north end of Canoe Lake. They are heading into Joe Lake, where only small motors are allowed. A family lodge, childrens camp and handful of cottages are located on this lake. It is ironic that before canoeists can get out onto the main part of the lake, they must paddle under a bridge that once carried logging trains out of the park. Now it carries cars to the children's camp.
