Another Larger Dam This dam was on the Tim River upstream of Little Butt Lake. It was most impressive and I managed to sink up to my knees in rather smelly mud lifting the canoe over it. By the time three canoes had passed over it, the top of the dam was significantly leaking but by the time we returned 2 days later the dam was repaired and about a foot higher than before. This reduced water levels between the dam and Rosebary Lake. On the return journey we found ourselves frequently grounded on the mud in the slow section. If you jumped out in this section, you'd sink in the river bed at least to your waist and the water is full of leaches! On the return trip (just before we got to Tim) we met a park ranger who pointed out that they used to go out and dynamite the dams on this section of the river. They gave up in the end because with in 2 weeks the dams were always as high as before !!! Clever little tinkers eh? We didn't manage to see beaver (great shame) but there was plenty of evidence with lots of lodges and numerous dams of various sizes. Camera was a Pentax P30T with a Tamron 80/210mm lens.
