Three Mile Lake Campsite #11

Landing

Topography of under-water approach: Rock, knee deep water.

Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: Incredibley difficult to load/unload due to almost vertical lift required..

Topography to tent sites: Very steep climb to first tentpad .

A difficult landing.

Note the tentpad and firepit locations.

Campsite

Campsite maintenance: Regular

Open ground area: This site is a collection of small areas connected by a series of paths (see site sketch)..

Extent of tree cover: 60% .

Degree of levelness: The word "level" does not apply to this site though the tentpads are useable.

Number of tent sites: 3.

North exposure: trees, view of lake.

East exposure: trees.

South exposure: trees.

West exposure: view of lake.

General description: This site could be considered "dangerous"! Each area of this site is at a different elevation, with an approximate elevation change of 15m from the shoreline to the top tentpads. Starting at the shore, it is a very steep climb to the first tentpad. The firepit area is a couple of meters lower than the first tentpad. The best route to access the eastern tentpads is to use the path that splits to the thunderbox, as the other path noted is almost a vertical climb. Sitting around the firepit would require caution, as there is very little level ground there.

Overall accessibility: NOT! Because of the landing, the drastic elevation changes, and the lack of any degree of level, not recommended for anyone with any kind of accessibility issues!

A very steep drop-off.

The lower tentpad from firepit area.

Lower tentpad seen from trail to thunderbox.

The upper two tentpads looking east.
