Landing at Rock Lake

Topography of under-water approach: Soft bottom leads to sloped rock .. some large rocks are easily visible.

Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: Large flat rocks that can be pulled alongside, and a very small spot to "beach" onto.

Topography of the ascending grade: Sloping rocks, roots and moderately steep on the way up from the water.

Impediments to moving gear to portage trail: grassy holding area to one side of the actual landing.

Portage Trail

General description: Relatively flat; a few ups and downs but nothing too challenging./p>

Topographical impediments to travelling: none .. some well maintained, double width board-walk sections.

Areas susceptible to impact by periods of rain or beaver flooding: a few potential puddle spots which are easily walked around.

Landing at Pen Lake

Topography of under-water approach: sandy, with a few visible large rocks further out.

Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: none .. there's a small dock to pull alongside when water levels are adequate.

Topography of the ascending grade: roots and rocks .. with an uphill haul for for the first 8 meters.

Impediments to moving gear to portage trail: None.
