Raven Lake Campsite #2

Landing

Topography of under-water approach: Sandy shallows.

Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: None. Easy to unload.

Topography to tent sites: Campsite sits on a slight rise. Incline is gradual, not too difficult.

Campsite

Campsite maintenance: Regular.

Size of open ground area: Medium. A good balance of sheltered and open & spacious.

Extent of tree cover: Fire-pit and tent-sites are a bit inland from the shoreline. There is tree coverage surrounding the whole site.

Degree of levelness: Campsite sits on top of a little rise, but the fire pit area and tent spots are flat.

Number of level tent-sites: Multiple .. will be able to accommodate large groups and large tents.

North exposure: Dense forest protecting campsite.

East exposure: Dense forest protecting campsite.

South exposure: Slightly exposed to southern winds, but campsite is a couple metres inland so it is somewhat protected.

West exposure: Didn’t camp here, just passed by, but I’d guess there’s enough tree coverage to protect from west winds.

General description: The site seems pretty good. There’s a small incline to get to the site so it’s sitting on a bit of a hill, and it’s got good tent spots and a nice kitchen area. It’s sheltered but still open and spacious at the same time. You can access the site from the south, but that’s a bit hilly and the real entrance is coming from the west, which has some shallow waters before the landing. This is the nicer of the two sites on the lake.

Overall accessibility: A slight incline from the landing to the campsite, but otherwise accessible.
