Ragged Lake Campsite #12
Landing Topography of under-water approach: Rocky, but deep to avoid concern. Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: Navigate and balance around rocky shore. Topography to tent sites: Coming up from the landing, there is about a 4 meter elevation leading to the firepit and the main tent site areas. Topography to tent sites: Coming up from the landing, there is about a 10 meter steep elevation leading to the firepit and the main tent site areas. There are several medium tent sites beyond the perimeter of the fire pit, but the terrain is littered with (tripping) roots. Looking east from the site sign we see lots of room to park boats, but no easy area for it with the rocky shoreline ... Looking west, the site’s access path is visible on the right side of the photo ... From the firepit looking south to the landing, a downed tree provides bench space with the stump acting as a decent prep surface ... Looking west over the firepit towards the tent sites, an additional bench in the foreground ... Campsite Regular or low-maintenance: Regular. Size of open ground area: Very open, medium. Extent of tree cover: Tent sites are slightly covered, but the firepit is fully exposed. Degree of levelness: Fire pit and tent sites are not very level. Number of tent sites: 3 - one large, one medium, one small. North exposure: Forest. East exposure: Trees. South exposure: Lake. West exposure: Trees, and the path that eventually leads to site #11. A view further west of the site showing the extent of rock slope and trees sheltering the core ... General description: Medium sized site with fully exposed firepit, and sloped tent sites. A small group could manage, and the deep entry is nice for swimming. There is a bonus tent pad along the path towards site #11. Overall accessibility: Landing is simple enough, a short sloped walk up to the core, and the site does not have many hazards - other than being almost entirely slightly sloped.
