Portage Trail General description: Well travelled, short, level trail, with minimum elevation change. Topographical impediments to travelling: An easy rise over the first 20+m at either end of the trail. Trail is equal mix of smooth path and rocky/rooty sections. Areas susceptible to impact by periods of rain or beaver flooding: None evident. (NB: In times of high water, the current can be strong even close to shore.) Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: Opening at landing is large enough for just one canoe. (NB: Get canoe pulled ashore quickly, so others can land safely.) Topography of the ascending grade: Smooth, gradual rise. Impediments to moving gear to portage trail: Not much room at landing and trail begins right away with barely enough room for 2 canoes to pass.
