![]() ![]() Landing Topography of under-water approach: Two possible landings ... The primary landing is west facing, and it's a small shallow sandy beach with a few foot-long boulders scattered below the surface. The point is surrounded by deeper water in the 40' range just beyond the beach. There's a 2nd smaller landing on the east side, again a sandy landing with a few weeds. No obstructions to landing from either access. Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: None at normal to low water levels. High Spring water levels may push the landing into the shrub-lined (east) or dirt-banked shoreline (west). Should still not impede access to any great degree however. Topography to tent sites: 1.5 meter vertical rise to the tenting/camping area from the canoe landing from either shore. Main tenting/firepit area is within 10 meters of either landing. Campsite itself with generally all flat topography. Landing area, view is west back towards the channel to the Petawawa R. ... View of tarp setup south-west of the firepit ... Campsite Campsite maintenance: regular Size of open area: 120' x 120'. Extent of tree cover: 75% canopied over tent/kitchen area. Degree of levelness: Relatively flat around firepit and tenting area, a very slight grade sloping eastward. Number of level tent sites: At least 3 flat sites adequate for3-4 man sized tents. North exposure: Well protected from the north as the point which this site is nestled on was thickly forested in that direction. East exposure: Eastern canoe landing is exposed to the east winds – which would make it a 2nd choice to launch/land from during strong easterlies. South exposure: Campsite bordered on its south by thick evergreen forest. West exposure: Western landing is nestled in a small islet with some northern protection provided by a cusp jutting out from that point Nice small sandy beach with late afternoon sun exposure – good sunset view. General description: Nice well used campsite with a protected tenting and cooking area. Large in-ground 3’ high straight cut stumps made some ok tables and the flat cut benches provided comfy seating around firepit. One grill present. Thunder box located south of campsite. No issues with firewood – lots to go around. Limited sun exposure within campsite – early morning sun along east canoe landing and late afternoon sun on the west shore. Others just dappled during the day on main campsite Overall accessibility: Great. One of the 3 tent sites .. 2 others nestled privately amongst forest 20 meters to the north .. looking north. ... Campfire area and 2 cut saw log benches.. looking south. ... ![]() Thanks to Jeffrey McMurtrie of Jeff'sMap for supplying the base-layer map component by Creative Commons licensing.
