I was invited to join Sean and Markus for this trip. This was a solo trip that Sean has made for years and just the past year was the first time he tripped with Markus and now with me for this trip. It was also Sean's 40th! In addition, fen nights of great weather was granted us.
The three of us all paddled our own canoes to Tom Thomson lake. I paddled my home made cedar Osprey. Markus was in his Prospector and Sean picked up a Swift Osprey .. like the one he has on order but was not finished for this trip. Markus and I paddled out first thing Friday morning as soon as we got permits. Sean came later to join us in the after noon on Tom Thomson. The wind picked up by the time Markus and I hit the beaver dam before T.T.
We paddled around for a few hours trying to find a decent site to keep out of the south wind. The only perfect site was taking on the island. We settled for the northern site from the island on the point. We hoped for the wind to die down and besides it was warmish out.
Sean finally came to join us around 2:30pm and we made camp for the next four nights. The wind did finally settle down that night and was moderate for out day trip to McIntosh Lake the next day.
We had a "rest" day by doing the Sunbeam Lake loop. And for our last day, we had a real rest day. But, I ventured off to Pathfinder Lake for a quiet lunch.
Please check out some pics from the great weekend. I hope to travel again with Sean, another great AA'er to trip with. Not bad for a old 40 fart!

Crossing the damm. It is easy to get over on the left side on shore.
Sean and Markus testing the wind tarps for our first night.
We took the tarps down when the wind died down.

View looking down the stairs to Ink Lake with canoe in transit!
Nice quiet paddle down the creek from Ink Lake to McIntosh.
The 405m portage to Timberwolf is a great trail anytime of the year but the fall is best.

A view from a North campsite on McIntosh.
Saturday morning was great with a fog over T.T.
A loon quietly floats by our landing.
We all paddled out into the morning fog to take pics and enjoy the views.
Markus taking some video footage after the fog has lifted.
Darn it! At the end of Bartlett Lake P470 portage towards Willow Lake.
Markus and Sean discussing our "rest" day loop.
No one made me go and why should they have all the fun anyways?
It turned out to be a great day and fun.

The water was even high and we were scraping the mud

Yuck! Markus avoiding the muck. I believe Sean got goo in is boot here.
Sean with SPOT..... thanks Sean.
Our wives and girlfriends loved keeping track of us
during our trip!

Our canoes wait for us on the island.
Taking off on Vanishing Pond. Water levels were decent with a few beaver dam lift-overs.
Sean, be careful with my canoe and the rocks!

Markus and Sean stock up with some firewood for the next few days.
Our campsite had been cleaned out from decent wood to burn.
Even way behind and toward next site has been picked over.
Sean cooking up some Bannock for us for supper. Very filling and tasty!.

My last day to enjoy. I paddled around looking for another area to rest and have lunch.
As it turns out I ended back here to rest, as the lake is pretty much all tall grass and swampy areas.
I hate to be traveling thru here mid June when bugs are at the worst. It was very peaceful this day and I enjoyed the day.
Yep, that's me….silly pic on Pathfinder Lake.
Our last night was interesting to say the least. Markus taking some pictures
of loons at sunset. Once it got dark neighbours across the lake got very loud.
Thank you Sean and Markus for a very, very fun trip.
I also have to thank Dave/Amy Harman and family for letting me visit them the night before this trip at Mew campground. Made a great way to start my trip.
