Thursday February 10th, 2005 Senior staff at the Algonquin Forestry Authority have provided Algonquin Adventures with an advanced release of the 2005-2006 Work Schedule Summary. Below are unofficial text descriptions of areas which have been tentatively designated for active forestry work during the coming year.
Starting at Algonquin's N/W corner, moving east through the first "row of townships", detailing those with planned activities .. then returning to the west side and moving east through the next "row of townships", again detailing just those with planned activities ... and southward/eastward again and again ... Harvesting involves extensive cutting and hauling. Road construction involves readying tertiary roads for future harvesting. Renewal involves cleaning-up after harvesting and facilitating regrowth. I haven't included some scheduled work areas which are so far from travelled watercourses, that their remoteness shouldn't impact on canoe trips. |
