Martin G's YouTube Channel has a new video uploaded .. "Western Uplands Backpacking Trail, September 2022". Martin did a four day hike of the trail's outer perimeter loop.

Some of his narration is definitely 'real-time' live ...

"The skies opened up at Thunder Lake, so I decided to carry on. It made for a longer day that I would have liked, but that's OK. I'm a little bit sick of the rain, but other than that I'm fine. After Thunder Lake ... Gee, now where do I go? ..."

Evan Briden, of YouTube Channel .. "Single Malt and Maps", has finished a four-part video record .. of his group's "May 2022: Rock Lake to South Galipo Lake Loop" .. checking out the Galipo lakes.

Evan has accompanied the videos with links and a text account on this website's forum at "May 2022: Rock Lake to South Galipo Lake Loop"

"We hiked up the trail without gear and after 30 minutes came to a dead-end swamp. On the hike back to the bags we noticed a large hill off to our right. We hiked to the top of that, and Ryan turned on his phone to see if we could get any cell reception. Viola, google maps showed us using the tiniest sliver of service that we were well south of where we needed to be. Instantly we all harkened back to the fateful turn of the road up the hill and realized the error in our ways."

Evan Briden, of YouTube Channel .. "Single Malt and Maps", has finished a six-part video record .. of his group's "2020 Opeongo to McKaskill Cabin Loop" .. their first ever water taxi experience, a return to the Crow River and Lavieille, and several nights in interior cabins .. . Evan has accompanied the videos with links and a text account on this website's forum at "Aug 2020: 6 Day Loop from Opeongo to McKaskill Cabin"

"The paddle down McKaskill is one that we won’t soon forget. The lake was calm, empty of people, and the sun was setting behind us. We paddled quietly through the multitude of islands and enjoyed the shorelines of the narrow northern section. The sky eventually went from a vibrant orange to a majestic purple as we entered the south end of the lake. Once you round the final island the McKaskill ranger cabin comes into view, nestled on the elevated southern shore. "

Drew (forum handle: "AlgonquinLakes") has posted one of the shorter trip-logs on his website "All Of Algonquin", an account of his truncated journey ("a good learning experience") on the Nipissing River .. "Low Water & High Alders: Falling short on the Nipissing River".

"Now, I was realizing that I didn’t even have it in me to get to Highview. And if I wasn’t going to make it to Highview that day, I wasn’t going to have enough time to complete even my revised loop. I had no idea what the rest of the river was going to be like, and I needed to rest. I looked at the map, realized I was too tired to feel disappointed, and set my sights on Loontail Junction."

Drew (forum handle: "AlgonquinLakes") has shared on his website "All Of Algonquin", the log of his recent trip out of Kiosk .. a loop north of Manitou Lake through Lorne and Fassett lakes .. "Fassett Lake Loop"

"As we approached the portage take-out we saw a large bird circling on the wind currents overhead. As I generally lump birds into two categories (loons, not loons), my best guess was that we were looking at some kind of hawk, or maybe an eagle. Or a pterodactyl. Mark, who knows a whole lot about birds, assured me that it was a turkey vulture .."

MartinG shared a trip-log report by means of a posting on the website forum. It has now been converted to a single conventional HTML page .. "Wendigo to Big Bissett Lake, Spring 2022".

"The creek between Weasel and Bisset was a little more difficult to paddle. It starts out wide and open but quickly narrows down to barely a boat wide. We kept a sharp eye out for the old portage entrance but saw nothing. Travelling further down, the creek opens up again into a wide marsh. Still no sign of a portage entrance. We continued to the first rapid. At this point I went into the forest south of the river looking for a sign of the old portage. I couldn't find anything amongst the thick tangle of trees and blow down."
