"You need to go to Cork! Feels deep interior but is easily accessible. The site we stayed at was pretty good too."

Cody Stein (aka 'trippythings' on the forum) has published another trip-log on his website, of his recent 8-day solo canoe trip from Canoe Lake .. through Otterslide and Burntroot, to Big Trout and return .. "8 Days Solo In September" .. along with 20 campsite reports .. the links to which are incorporated into this website's PCI Project.

"The skies didn’t look promising though .. As the day went on the rain came and went, but the winds only got stronger and stronger. It turned into possibly the windiest day I’ve ever had in the park. Not only did it make the day very unenjoyable, but it also made me very concerned about my tent and tarp that were taking a heavy beating."

Wanda Spruyt has submitted a trip-log, of her recent 7-day get-away .. 3 days solo on Canisbay Lake and 4 days with her daughter on Annie Bay, where they had unpleasant interactions with inexperienced campers who were unfamiliar with the camping reservation system. It is available here for download in PDF format .. "Glamping, Campsite Numbers and Newbies.

"We were taken aback when an angry young lady announced that we were on “their site”. They had reserved it! ... Joyce's last words to them was to please go to the permit office on their way out to ask for clarification of how back country booking works. They’ll be in for a rude awakening. They angrily paddled away, the young lady still yelling at us. Afterwards, I was thinking about the whole episode. Never have I dealt with an adult having such a hissy-fit!"

Drew (forum handle: "AlgonquinLakes") has added a two-part trip-log .. "Big Trout Loop – Part 1" and Part 2" to his All Of Algonquin" website.

The trip was originally planned to be a 4-day loop out of Canoe Lake .. by way of McIntosh, Big Trout, Otterslide and Burnt Island Lakes.

"Then we reached the end of the carry and the muddy crap under our feet became significantly less attention-grabbing than the onslaught of white caps rolling towards us from across Burnt Island. It was like standing in the middle of a wind tunnel ... Plan B was starting to look like a real option. This would have us cut across the eastern end of Burnt to Birdie Lake. From there we’d go south through a string of small and medium size lakes before eventually coming out at Canisbay campground."

Part 2 - Taking the Long Way Home .. Out through White Trout, Misty and the Petawawa.

"Perfect weather, great campsites, and the bugs were better than I could have hoped for - it was an idyllic trip."

Cody Stein (aka 'trippythings' on the forum) has published a trip-log on his website, detailing his recent 4-day canoe trip to Lake Louisa .. "Welcome To Louisa" (as previously featured in a short video).

"No matter how tired or drained I am, swimming in a cold lake is just so refreshing and gives a jolt of energy. As I got out of the water I noticed a bunch of leaches that almost latched onto me, so counted myself lucky and decided that would be my only swim at this campsite."

Andrew M. has submitted a portage report to this website's Portage and Campsite Inventory Project., of "Portage 1885m - Highway 60 to Pinetree Lake"

"It had rained the day before our trip and was drizzling lightly so the trail was very slippery and wet, particularly in the steeper sections with running water crossing it in one place. There was a tree down about halfway through the portage .. we found it to a little more challenging than the Rock to Louisa portage but that was likely just due to the wet conditions."

The editor is extremely glad to see that what was for many years a formidable blockade of floating deadwood is nolonger located across the put-in!

Cody Stein (aka 'trippythings' on the forum) has published an extremely well produced three minute video (on his website "Algonquin & Beyond") summarizing a recent 4-day canoe trip to Lake Louisa .. "Welcome To Louisa".
A full trip report and campsite reports will be eventually posted on his website.

"Things that didn't make the cut... constantly complaining to each other about the weight of our gear portaging, the 30 degree sunshine always beating down on us, the mosquitos that wouldn’t stop biting, or the complete lack of energy to do anything even remotely productive once we got to our campsite for the night. Instead I decided to show the beautiful sunsets, the calm early morning paddles, the gorgeous campsites we stayed at, and the relaxing time spent appreciating the beauty of the backcountry."
