Wanda Spruyt has submitted a two-part trip-log titled Opeongo-Proulx-Big Crow-Hailstorm Creek-Opeongo then To Crotch Lake/Farm Lake (Aug. 31 - Sept. 14, 2016), of which a mother-daughter part took place from Aug 31st to September 8th, and the following solo part took place from Sept 8 to Sept 14

"Crossing into the heavy rollers, we were forced to paddle north into the wind in order not to tip or get swamped. It was brutal, as we went two strokes forward and one and a half back. We are both strong paddlers, but we had the feeling we might not win this battle. After a good half hour, and still in the middle of the lake, a sudden lull had us turn the canoe south and aim for the east side where we thought we could see an empty site."

"Neelands" has added 2016 Oct 4-8 2nd Loop WUT, Algonquin to his Smugmug Hiking Trips Galleries. It's a photo trip-log of his .. five day solo hiking trip on the Western Uplands Backpacking Trail. The trip-log includes 34 photos, which can also be viewed as a slideshow.

"Pretty amazing. This was my second time hiking the 2nd loop trail, and the 56km trail seemed a lot easier this time, probably because I used hiking poles this time, my pack was a bit lighter, and I'm in better shape. Next year I'd like to take a look at the third loop."

Craig White has submitted a trip-log of his family weekend trip to Lake Travers .. Lake Travers Fall Family Trip - Sep 9th-11th, 2016.

"Then came a fifteen minute stretch of unbelievable change, I’ve never seen such low level cloud torn out of the sky so fast! It was an incredible scene as the skies opened to reveal the large towering storm clouds previously hidden from sight. We’d later find out a tornado watch had been on for most of eastern Ontario, and it sure makes sense looking back at it. To the north, the equally soggy boat was finding some success at least with bass biting, a nice walleye thrown in the mix, and Unkie finally landed his first muskie! I had the only waterproof camera in the canoe with me, but I’m told it was a great looking fish!”

The trip-log includes 43 photos, commentary and maps .. which can also be viewed as a slideshow.

"It's lake of small islands and big pines. Very picturesque. Weird thing happened near her. I saw a canoe and a guy at a campsite from about 100 metres away, but when I passed the site he and the canoe were gone, and the only place they could have gone was into the bay that holds the portage. And yet he wasn't there either ... "

Chris Lawson and his buddy went on a four-day loop trip out of Kiosk in late September. You can check out the trip-log on Chris's website .. Érables - Biggar - Kioshkowkwi . Despite cool temperatures and 24 portages, they appear to have enjoyed the trip's 80 kilometers.

"We were on the water more than we were in the woods - at least as far as distance goes - but in terms of travel time, I'm not sure. We're not the only people who found this route a bit of a chore. The cartographers, for example. We paddled through Boggy Lake, Rat Trap Lake and Dismal Bay today. You get the sense they were trying to tell us something.”

Craig White has submitted the trip-log of a recent trip to Booth Lake with his young son .. Booth Lake Trip Report - Aug 11th-14th 2016 . For those of us who took our young son(s) camping in the backcountry many years ago, it definitely stirs up some nostalgia.

"Just as we were reaching enough depth for Unkie to think about starting the steel line run, the boy's rod bent over in a BIG way. Several minutes of heavy fighting and a lot of excitement brought a rather large pike to the surface not far off the side of the boat. Now, there are no pictures of said fish, but there is truth to the tale that it was too big to fit into the small net we brought along for bass.”

Bob & Diana McElroy have posted a trip-log on their website Bush Log and Notes of their recent 5 night canoe trip ... The Petawawa River from Lake Travers to McManus Lake.

"We had a mishap near the top of Schooner. Got crossways to the current on some rocks. Had to disembark mid river. We got the canoe leaning downstream just in time to prevent the upstream gunwale going under. Otherwise we would [probably] have lost the canoe. As it was, we took on some water (over the upstream gunwale) but not a disastrous amount."
