Campsite

Regular or low-maintenance: Regular

Size of open area: 150' x 100'.

Extent of tree cover: 80% canopied over tent/kitchen area.

Degree of levelness: All flat.

Number of level tent sites: Easily three 3-man tents

North exposure: Protected from the North winds as campsite backs on to mature mixed forest.

East exposure: Protected from eastern winds.

South exposure: Southern exposure from canoe landing only. Nice lounging sandy elongated (100m) beach out front of campsite extends half way to neighboring campsite to the north. 10 x 8 flat grassy area to the west of the landing also proved to be a nice lounging area with minimal sand. Landing/debarking area fully exposed to southern winds, although lake width at that point would prevent major whitecaps.

West exposure: None - campsite protected via mixed forest from the west, it's also nestled in a back bay within western bay adding another level of protection.

General description: Good campsite in terms of kitchen facilities - large open area, grill present and there was a table built between two trees with adequate size to prepare and organize meals. Roughed out benches around firepit were trunks from mature trees. Firepit well protected from any wind direction. Poor sunset and sunrise views, although lots of sun exposure along beach between 10 - 5 pm. Campsite was inundated with aggressive rodents - We counted 5 individual red squirrels and 3 chipmunks who were very acclimatized to humans but proved fun entertainment for the kids. A number of mouse as well and 1 short visit by a raccoon on our last nite. There was an 'official' erected wire-line for food storage put there by the park staff to the north-east of the campsite. A path (<100 meters) existed between this and the campsite to the north-east which makes group camping a possibility should these campsites be vacant. Crapper is a squat box located to the north of campsite. Swimming is excellent due to the firm shallow sandy beach and limited weed growth.

Overall accessibility: Excellent
