Portage Trail

General description: A few ups and downs but nothing too challenging; a few areas with large root obstructions; watch your feet to avoid a twisted ankle.

Topographical impediments to travelling: none .. the beginning has an eroded ascent, particularly rough when wet.

Areas susceptible to impact by periods of rain or beaver flooding: none.

Landing at Pen Lake

Topography of under-water approach: sandy, with a few visible large rocks further out.

Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: none .. there's a small dock to pull alongside when water levels are adequate.

Topography of the ascending grade: roots and rocks .. with an uphill haul for for the first 8 meters.

Impediments to moving gear to portage trail: None.
