Landing

Topography of under-water approach: Gradual gradient from deep to shallow.

Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: None, although it is a confined landing.

Topography to tent sites: Short, steep riverbank of perhaps 2-3 meters in height with good footing.

Approaching from upstream, showing the site as you round the bend in the river approaching from upstream ...

Campsite

Regular or low-maintenance: Regular

Size of open area: Approximately 8 meters by 10 meters, kidney shaped.

Extent of tree cover: Roughly 60-70%, with some dappled sunlight making it through the canopy.

Degree of levelness: Quite level.

Number of tent sites: One good one, a couple other options.

North exposure: Protected by forest.

East exposure: Exposed to winds from over the river meadow.

South exposure: Somewhat protected.

West exposure: Fully protected by forest behind.

Single large tenting spot .. with other tent sites being feasible around the area. ...

General description: A pleasant site for a stop, but not one that offers much of interest in the immediate vicinity. You can fish from the front steps and enjoy a shore lunch from the spectacular view of the broad river valley. However, the remainder of the site shows remnants of tree-fall damage and has a haphazard feel. The thunderbox is a short walk west into the woods. Two unique seats are carved into the trunk of an enormous white pine that was brought down right across the site.

Overall accessibility: Beyond the rise up from the river, good.
