Amable du Fond River Campsite #4

Landing

Campsite's landing is shared with that of an adjacent portage.

With more than 1 canoe, gear needs to be moved away from landing.

Topography of under-water approach: Small rock and gravel in shallow water.

Impediments to disembarking from and/or unloading a canoe: Landing is quite small, a couple of canoes could unload but it would be crowded.

Topography of the ascending grade: Smooth, wide path.

Note: Steps have been placed in the washed out path from the landing to the staging area of the adjacent portage.

Campsite

Campsite maintenance: Regular.

Size of open area: 8m x 5m.

Extent of tree cover: 50%.

Degree of levelness: level.

Number of level tent sites: 2.

North exposure: trees, portage trail, view of waterfalls

East exposure: Amable du Fond River, portage trail

South exposure: trees, portage trail

West exposure: trees

General description: Small site, handy for unscheduled stops. 2 tents could be pitched on site while more tents (if needed)
could be pitched along the side of the trail as it is quite level.

Portage trail runs next to campsite.

Pretty much the whole campsite, tenting area is to the left.

Smallish firepit.

Tenting area seen from trail.

Thanks to Jeffrey McMurtrie of Maps By Jeff for supplying the base map.
