Image Guides

Photo Image Files

Photo files should be submitted in JPG format. They should be "downsized" from their original camera sizes .. to smaller pixel dimensions and compressed by 10 to 30 percent. These size reductions will facilitate easier submission by emailing and/or posting on the website forum.

The example below is a downsized 1280 x 960 pixel, 201 kb version of 3,290 kb original camera file. It is being displayed here in the web-browser at 640 x 480 pixels. To see it at its full downsized size, click on the "+ Larger size image" link below it.

Sketch Image Files

Sketch files are usually scanned GIF format files of paper sketches done on a canoe trip. They are typically simple in nature. The importance of these sketches is to portray the relative locations of key elements and characteristics of an area.

The examples below are downsized to 640 pixels wide. While the original scans were much larger in pixel dimensions, GIF files of black and white line drawings are typically much smaller than JPG files.
